Proportioning valve question...
So far I understand that it regulates the amount of brake fluid distributed between the front and rear disc brakes. Do cars with rear drums have or need prop. valves?
Thanks
Thanks
Okay cool, so say I want to upgrade my 9.5" 93 civic front brakes to 10.3" teg GSR front brakes. I do however plan on leaving the rear drums alone, it just doesn't seem worth the upgrade to me considering they only do about 10-20% of total braking. Anyways, I'll add a 94 teg RS master cylinder and booster at the same time. Which proportioning valve should I be using?
Thanks again
Thanks again
from what i have heard if you don't plan on changing the back brake to disc then don't change the valve. if you change the back to disc then get a 4040 valve. otherwise leave it alone. and yes it is a very good idea to upgrade the mc and booster because the GSR calipers will need alot more fluid to get them to compress. just my .02 and you know i have the mc and booster if you need. thanks
I'm doing upgrade all the way around (96 spec ITR) and the guy at the shop said he reccomends upgrading to an integra MC and the proportioning valve, even though the fronts do so much more braking the front calipers running the old valve will send the front end down when you brake. I'll just take his word though.

i think all of them are the same
60% FRONT 40% REAR
pretty common on most cars
right?
but wait!
if you have rear drums i know that the drum brakes get fluid before the front disks....cuz there is a delay in activating drum brakes.....with 4 wheel disk, all four brakes grab at the same time
