I've spent the past hour searching to find an answer to my question but could not come up with anything. Also, I apologize if this is in the wrong section, I just figured tech/misc was the most appropriate for my question.
As the title says, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the difference is between a 3030 and a 4040 brake proportioning valve? What do the numbers "3030" and "4040" signify? I was always under the impression that the numbers indicated an equal or unequal distribution (brake bias) of brake fluid between the front and rear brakes. If that is the case, wouldn't 3030 provide that same equal distribution as the 4040? Maybe I am completely wrong, so any helpful insight or comments is greatly appreciated!

I highly doubt the guys at the parts counter will even know what I'm talking about, they have a hard enough time finding me the parts I need as it is.
Bump for some answers. Hopefully some of the brake gurus will chime in soon!

I can tell you that the 3030 and 4040 are just parts numbers, and have no relation to proportioning. That does not mean that they dont proportion differently.
I feel the only difference is the 3030 is made for the smaller civic brakes and the 4040 for the larger teg brakes. Dont ask me why but I have taken both 3030 and 4040 apart and they appear internally identical. I did not measure the internal holes but I feel it is possible maybe one flows a little more fluid than the other.

Very interesting, thanks for the info!

4040 is just a marking thats on it. it doesn't mean anything about the braking at all. thats just a easier way to know which prob valve your talking about lol. no prop valve will give a 40fr 40r distribustion. its more like 80/20
