Default problems with windshield wiper.........

ok, my honda civic 98 ex coupe has some problem with the windshield wipers......when i put it on intervals or off.......it is having problems and still remains at speed 1......when i put it into speed 2, it goes into speed 2, but once again......if i switch to int, or off.........it stays on speed 1.........i would have to put it in between off and int just for it to be off......wtf is wrong with it. Can someone go thru with me how to fix it step by step. when its raining it doesn't matter, but when it is sunny and hot out.....it looks ridiculous for the wipers to still be on. HELP!

Bad wiper switch maybe? Does the switch fall down on its own? Does pushing up on it shut them off?

nope....the civic one is twist to make it to go into off, int, spd1, spd2.......so far its ok, but sometimes it still comes on once in awhile. I dont want to take it into a shop since it seems like a pretty simple fix. I dont want to waste like $40-$65 for the labor to fix it. SOmebody help!

So you don't think pushing down on it does anything, huh? Try it, you may be surprised. It should spring back up by itself. When they're broken they don't.
