Default problem while replacing fuel filter

I was trying to replace my fuel filter today and while trying to undo the banjo bolt (red) I twisted the fuel filter and ended up bending the metal fuel line (blue). The dent is pretty substantial and I wanted to know if this is something I should worry about?

Also this made me realize that I'm not exactly "mechanical". I think instead of doing any further damage to my car I should just take it to a shop to get it replaced. About how much would it cost to have a shop just replace the filter, and the line if the damage is bad

Yeah that happens sometimes.
When you are braking loose that banjo you want to make sure that the filter is still attached securely to the firewall.

I am not sure what model car you have but here is a parts diagram for a 92 si.

And here is where you can go to buy a new line.

look under "fuel pipe"

Or you could probably score one from junkyard.

What I would do is order and replace the bent part and the filter at the same time.

I would say that the car should be ok to drive temporarily as long as the line is not leaking. Just keep a close eye on it because it may crack from vibration.

The previous owner of my car did this too. I've been driving it for 4 years now with no problems, but ran across this thread the other day and thought about giving it a shot. It may help you out too: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1452210.

Yea that seems like the most sensible thing to do. I'm not too tech savy and I'm struggling to figure out exactly which pipe ill need.

I have a 94 Civic EX, this is the diagram for it

It looks like ill need pipe 44 correct? anything else?

next time get an open end wrench at put it where the banjo bolt goes through. when you do that you prevent the filter from moving to much thus preventing and bent lines.

I actually did that, but it slipped out and resulted in the bent line
