Default Pressurized Valve Cover

Background: Rebuilt top end of 91 Integra LS B18A1. Bottom end is stock and untouched. Head machined, 3 angle valve job. Head vaccum tests perfect. Good compression and leakdown numbers.

The car starts and idles fine. At first there was a large amount of smoke coming from the engine, mostly the head area. I removed the oil cap from the valve cover and alot of smoke came out. I believe it was burning **** off because the amount of smoke went away after time. However the air coming from the oil cap hole was slightly pressurized, felt about the same as the muffler feels at idle. When it was real smokey I could see it shoot out of the oil cap hole.

This cant be normal. Any idea of what may be causing this?

have you ever noticed that there is a hose that comes from your intake to your valve cover. The air in your intake is moving which creates pressure in the little tube which in turn makes air flow into your valve cover
thus pressurized valve cover

i dont mean to seem like a smartass

Ok wasnt sure how much is normal. Bleeder hose connected!
Smoke subsided after running the car longer. Must have been **** that needed to burn off.

Like I said, I think it's fine. There's enough air coming out of there to feel it. And it feels, as you mentioned, similar to putting your hand behind the muffler. And a little smoke is ok, too. If it's gone, even better I suppose. As long as you have everything hooked up now, it sounds as though you'll be fine.
