Ill be having my ls-t tuned on thursday and would like to know what i need to do before.
Build
81.5 b18b1
Wiseco 9.1
Eagle rods
Arp head studs
340 lph pump
Rc 1000cc
Tial 38mm
Precision 5431e turbo 60 cold 63
Cx racing front mount
Aem uego wideband
S300
2.5 down pipe
Phantom lsBREAK LOL
Few questions. I read earl laskeys break in write up! And i followed it.
So far i used non detergent oil, let it idle like 5 times for 1 hour or more. And did a few city miles.
Question is before tuning what oil can/should i use? I have mobil 1 full syn laying around. Is it ok?
Also what should i check on ignition system? I have new cap and rotor. But old wires. And i know ignition plays a huge role in forced induction engines. The last thing ivwant is poor numbers due to irratic spark, arcking or misfires during the dyno runs.
Next what number plugs should i use? For around 350 hp(goal)?
Last ls-t i did i used ngk7

check compression and get your ignition system working as it should no old busted parts.
make sure you have no leaks. make sure your WHEELS ARE ALLIGNED. the first thing rich noticed when i brought my car in was that it didnt wobble on a dyno. next time my allignment was a bit off. the car walked allover the rollers
make sure you have good axles mine ripped on the dyno and its embarassing. i brought rags with me and cleaned it up he was pretty happy about it i could tell most people dont do that lol.
and bring a box for the tuner to put a laptop on so he can see it and have easy acess.
also dont bring a busted laptop if you have neptune or hondata ad he has to use a crappy laptop with missing buttons.
let him tune the car and get out of his way but let him know any quirks about your car or setup beforehand so he knows.

don't use synthetic oil until after the motor is broken in; after the dyno. a good name brand conventional (all conventional oils are now part synthetic).
double check the valve lash adjustment. if it's off, it'll throw the tune off horribly.
