Default pr3 wanting hondata

I have a 2nd gen b16a in a crx running obd0 with a pr3 ecu and vafc. I want to know what I need to run hondata without going obd1. And to what are the advantages of tuning with hondata on a pr3 compared to tuning with just vafc.

Thanks ahead for the info.

To run OBD0 Hondata you're going to have to hunt one down. Hondata dropped OBD0 support a while ago, and if you can find an old system floating around you're lucky.

The advantages over a piggy-back system are many. You can tune fuel and ignition separately, without fooling the ecu into doing something it shouldn't be doing. You can adjust rev limits also, as well as vtec points. It's just plain better, think of it as the "right" way to tune.

Thanks for the info. It appears you know an awful lot about the electrical side of honda. So hear is another question I hope you can help me with.

I am extremely intersted in putting individual throttle bodies on my 2nd gen b16a. What would I need to convert to obd 1? What type of ecu could I use that would make it easier to tune the motor with while obd 1 and using the itbs?

Do you know what I would need to make the itbs work? For example what do I do with the tps and map sensor etc.

Once again thanks alot for the feed back.

Pretty much any OBD1 ecu will work. The P28 and P30 are most common, the P72 has the controls for the butterflies in the GS-R, not useful for your engine. The non-VTEC ecus can be converted to VTEC fairly easily. I would recommend either a P30 or P28 for convenience.

Get a convertion harness from Rywire or JKOBD or someone similar, they are of great quality and make everything plug and play. You'll need an OBD1 distributor and a 4 wire O2 sensor as well. The convertion harnesses make running the few extra wires very easy, with a little sub-harness with labeled wires.

For tuning, use Chrome. Period. There is a plugin that allows you to use the TPS and the MAP sensor in one map, a sort of hybrid map that gives great throttle response and makes tuning a breeze. You can use the "stock" TPS that comes on the throttle bodies if you know what it is, or what voltage range it uses.

I hope this answers some of your questions, let me know if I can help you any more.
