Default PR3 O2 sensor problem (not typical problem)

Ok, So after reading numerous thread about theo2 sensors being switched etc. etc. I decided to go have a look at mine. Guess what I find! Neither of my O2's are connected. The one with a white plug is just dangling. The part that plugs into the part that goes to the firewall is what is dangling. I cant even find the plug it goes to. The other plug has s wire goign down the manifold and is just cut off. I have to rewire that one completely.

What kind of wire should I use for this and where can I get some of those ecu pins that go into the clips? If some of what I have said is confusing please let me know and I will elaborate for you. I may need to take some pics. If so let me know.

TIA!!!

I have a ton of ECU pins w/ about 6 inches plus of wire already connected to them. If you need some let me know

I know for sure that c8 is the 2nd o2 pin so, if you just run a wire from your existing(2nd o2) to c8 that one will be fine. If you search for a pinout you can find the other pin # for the primary o2 and do the same thing.

(I just had to do this on my new car cause the dude that had it before me attempted to wire in a 4 wire o2) Hope I helped.

Phil

<<<------One VERY confused person

I forgot to add that my ECU isnt throwing a check engine light or any codes at all. It doesnt make any sense to me because neither of my O2 sensors are connected right now.

IT drives fine. Sometimes it gets boggy, but when I does that I just pull over, cut the car off, then turn the key to the on position for abt 15 seconds then start it and it does fine.

I just dont understand why Im nto getting any codes while neither of my O2 sensors are plugged in.....

the ecu is not real senstive to the 2nd O2 sensor so the code does not go on all the time but for the first one maybe the ecu is rechipped

Yea I thought about that this morning. I bought the car with the swap and the guy didnt tell me anything that was done to it. Freaking guy didnt even know what kind of clutch it had in it.So yea, this morning I was thinking "I thought the only way the ecu wouldn't throw a code from the O2 sensor is if it is chipped or in open loop??"

I'm going outside right now to look for the plug for that secondary sensor. I will rewire theprimary one this week and see how everything goes.

Ok, so my primary O2 sensor (green plug) is complete. but the wire just cuts off after a couple inches and is dangling.

The secondary is missing the harness end of the plug. So I think I am gonn just bypass the plug all together and wire straight through to the ecu.

I looked at my ECU plugs and at C16 I have a white wire. I cant find that damn wire under the hood in any of the looms. C8 has no wire in it whatsoever, so once Phil gets those wires to me I will wire that one up and prolly at teh same time wire up my primary (bypass the plug).

So would it be a bad idea to bypass the plug? I realize that if I need to change O2 sensors in the future that I will have to cut the wire and re-splice the new one, but I can live with that.

Yea, if you read the last page I posted on that one. IT didnt have the answer Im looking for. I know all about C8 and C16. That is not my problem, I am going to run wires to connect my O2's up in a couple days.

My question is: "Why doesnt my check engine light come on or ECU throw any codes while neither of my O2 sensors are hooked up? The engine also runs fine like this. How???"

is your ecu chipped? i've heard that you can have the o2 removed from the ecu causing it not to throw any codes. check for an o2 simulator, they make those too sich tels the ecu that the air/fuel ration is perfect. other than that i have not a clue.

Well I got some wires with the connectors from hondaguyef, but they were the worng ones, but he has wuickly rectified that mistake. Now I am just waiting for the new connectors to get here and I will swap those out for the wrong ones that I wired up the other day. BTW in case you want to know: I pluged them in and flip floped them and it didnt make any difference whatsoever. I know this cuz I took off giont down the road took it to about 7 grand through 1-2-3. I didnt see any smoke or anything. It did feel like it was bogging during vtec crossover....something I dont rememebr feeling. Could be from the bad connection....I'll find out soon I hope

Ok, i have had it all together now for a lil over a week (closer to two) and it hasnt bogged or anything since then. It runs great now and I think I am even getting better gas mileage.

My advice to anyone who has this swap in tehir EF without the O2 sensors hooked up: HOOK THEM UP!! It takes a maximum of 30 minutes to do and it is the single best thing I have done to it since I got the car. I love not having to pull over to cut the car off then start it back up. "It's a good thing"

if the sensors are the same why would it make any difference if they were "crossed" shouldnt make a difference right?
