I got out of my 97 civic LX sedan this morning and went to lock the doors with the pwr switch and nothing happened. Is this a common failure? Could it possibly be just a wire having come unsoldered? Any input welcome. I know it's a cushy feature, but I like my pwr door locks - they come in useful of a 4-door.

Anyone know which fuse operates the door switch and if there is anything else on the same fuse?

What do you mean by "wire." Is is what I already stated - possible solder loosening?

By "wire" I meant anything that could involve the wiring:
-bad connection (yes - solder/terminal)
-broken/pinched
-short
-pulled off
etc...
EDIT: Checking continuity with a multimeter should be able to narrow your search down.

I will get on these checks soon and post up what I find.
Is this a common problem? I know someone else has to have dealt with the same thing.

I learned a little bit installing my own set into a an 93si hatch. The first try was JDM, didn't know the polarity is reversed and blew a ton of fuzes. Also leanred that if one connection is lose for the window control (driver or passenger side), the other side will not work. "Lewdin’ Incognito" was right about "Fuse, switch, wire." Order and all... wish you luck.

If by that you mean the speed is adjustable, then yes.
I checked the fuse today, even switched it out with a known good fuse - still nothing. I took the handle/switch panel off the door and looked at the terminal - it is a plug, not soldered. Looked fine. I don't know where to go from there.
BTW, I also checked the harness that runs from fender to door, and it looked good - there is a cover over it which was intact at both places. I assume that means it's all cool underneath.
What should I look at next?
