Power steering pump
I have a 96 Civic EX with a bad power steering pump
i was wondering if i took the mounting bracket and pump off a 95 ex, would it work
all the connections look the same, it's just that they mount differently
thanx in advance!!

Re: Power steering pump (BlingBlingCivic)
Hiya Bling... yes the p/s pump should be compatible.. If you have all the components within your reach you should be able to answer your own question...
My main concern is where the p/s pump bracket mounts on the cylinder head...do the bolt patterns look the same? p/s brackets use 3 bolts to hold it in place, If you can get away w/ just using 2 bolts for the bracket, that will be ok..
The key is to make sure the crank and p/s pullys are lined up so the belt rides "true"
What happened w/ your p/s pump?
I'm assuming the bearings got worn?
An overtightened p/s belt will wear the bearings prematurely..
thats a bitch cuz a p/s pump is the easiest thing to rebuild, but the indvidual OEM parts aren't available without purchasing the whole pump.. sorta like rebuilding your vacuum cleaner..

Re: Power steering pump (BreakStuff)
actually i bought the car wrecked, it was light front end damage and it looks like the pump got bumped and knocked out of whack; not sure how bad though
i haven't gotten a chance to look at it too closely yet
i'm gonna take it off and see if it's just the pulley or the whole pump that is messed up
the reason i asked is because i may have access to a 95 civic engine that is blown
thanx!!!!
