Has anyone ever heard of a cylinder being stuck in VTEC, thus causing misfires and/or a bad idle? Is this even a possiblility, like if there was somethign wrong with the piston that controls VTEC causing it to get stuck, leaving that cylinder on the high rpm lobe....making it idle bad?
I'm trying to figure out why my car is misfiring every once in a while.....

have you checked the obvious stuff first? Wires, plugs, cap rotor...ect. You should check that before you assume somthin out of the ordinary like that, eventhough in some wierd way i guess its possible for that little bar to keep the lobes lock together. how many miles on the motor?

I replaced pretty much everything that has to do with the ignition, including the entire distributor, as well as the spark plugs and wires...twice. The head gasket seems allright because there's no bubbles in the coolant and no loss thereof.
Basically, I'll drive around and everything seems perfect, and then suddenly it starts idling all lumpy. Then it'll go away.

weird. i would assume if you take off the valve cover and inspect the rockers you would see some unusal wear if this was the problem...but i doubt it.
