Popping Sound When Braking?
My 97 Civic is making strange popping sounds when I brake. Here's what happens:
When I back up and depress the brake to stop, I hear a pop/clunk sound coming from the front of the car (possibly the rotors or brake calipers). Then when I shift and go forward and depress the brake to stop, it does the same thing. It almost feels like the caliper is loose or something. Anybody have any ideas?

<-- has the same problem
my mechanic cannot figure out what the pooping is coming from, its not the axles or wheel bearing like i had thought.

I don't think it's the axle. Otherwise it would probably pop the moment and hit the gas and started going in reverse (if the axle and the wheel had a little play between them). It could be, but I doubt it.
Is it possible that the calipers could be loose or something else in the brakes.
It's actually been doing this off and on for the past couple of years. Before it was very rare, but now it's all of the time.
"check the rear mount to see if its broken or loose"
What do you mean by rear mounts?
