power to the wheels is one thing, how the car accelerates is another.
mating an engine that breathes and pulls under load like the ITR does
is one thing. gearing is another... you could have ITR power with
GSR gears and still get walked by the top of third gear. dont worry
about putting alot of money in the GSR motor, you dont need to.
I assume you have a GSR.
I would suggest:
replace tune up parts
valve adjustment to stock spec
cam gears
skunk2 intake manifold
wait on cams GSRs work fine for now, they can be dyno tuned
ITR Throttle body
hondata tuning
Intake, Header, Exhaust (comptech sells good stuff, you can get deals now)
GSR tranny rebuild with ITR 3,4,5th gears and new synchros if they are getting old.
or buying a used USDM ITR tranny complete
install a good clutch like exedy stage 1 upgrade, you dont need an over sprung clutch package unless you have more than 150 at the wheels and most tuned honda cars DONT.
lighter flywheels help and dont buy a clutch disk with spun copper in the material, they eat flywheels. go for something similar to stock with stronger construction, possibly kevlar clutch.
once this thing is tuned on the dyno properly, I would expect to see 165/123 on SAE corrected spinning 8400 on stock cams. that is considered strong for stock
00-01 ITR range.
once you have this, work on your suspension, or do your suspension first on stock motor who cares about straight line only acceleration anyways. if you dont have traction it will be wasted wheelspin. find a good breakpad and tire combination that works for you and be happy. an ITR can be modded to... keep this in mind. focus more on making your car as nimble as it can be for what it is. Learn what your wear items will be for your type of driving and plan accordingly.
Thats all I have to say about that. GSRs can be made to compete with Rs, it only takes time and effort and smart modding so you dont go broke in the process.
