Default PnP an LS head..

how much would a PnP job be for an LS head... has anyone PnP'ed their own LS head and how great were the performance gains?? i'm considering doing mine to help aid in my TURBO setup, but the idea of taking off my head is still a scary idea.. i mean, i've done alot of engine work externally, but haven't yet dared to 0pen up the engine to tinker with it..

Taking off your head is one thing, but doing your own port and polish is WAY beyond that IMO, maybe best to leave that job to someone with experience.

People who port and polish there heads, and make them look wonderful and all, dont realize that does mean squat. You must use a flow bench whenever you port and polish. You could actually have some detrimental effects on your power range if you dont have it flow benched.

if you're doing a turbo setup on your ls, you may be able to gain up to 30+ hp by opening up the intake and exhaust ports. use the intake/exhaust manifold to guide you when you're grinding away and when you're done try polishing it with one of them wire brush drill bit thingys. good luck if you're going to do this. now if you're talking about things like a 5-angle valve job...you're better off sending your head to a professional place.

I would HIGHLY reccommend sending your head to someone or shop who has experience with port and polish. It seems easy but one little mistake can mess up the whole process.
