did you apply some anti-squeal compound while you were down there changing pads? it's advicable to do so.

after doing my brake pad change over a year ago, i never bled the lines, but after that incident (now that my brakes clunk, it makes me think twice) it's also advicable to bleed the lines.

I have squealing problem in my brakes too. But it only squeal when brake is not in use and the squeal goes away when I step on the brake. Any ideas as to what's causing this?

The sound comes from front left only and it increases in frequency with higher speed.

If your brakes squeal or squeek it doesn't neccessarily mean that anything is wrong--especialy if they are performance pads or rotors.

Most normal street pads are engineered for long life, low dust and low noise. Which aren't priorities on performance pads.

Also they often take a little bit to settle in.

Just take your pads out again...if you didn't do it the first time, don't worry, it's really really easy...take off the shim..the metal plate on the back of you pad and squeeze that anti squeal crap all over the back of it, the side that contacts the pad, NOT the other side...you'll need a C-clamp to push the piston back in most likely...and put back together, you should have no squeal anymore!

i'm not mechanically inclined at all, but i try my best to do from what i can. if you have time to spare this weekend, take a close look at you brake assembly. i've heard of people finding metal residue, and such on their rotor. does your brakin wobble? if it is, then the rotors are warped. get it resurfaced if you still have enough left, or within specs.

good luck
