Pivot shift light wiring??
I bought a pivot shift lamp from a fellow H-T member and it was new in the box. Well, when I opened it I discovered that it was the kind that needs to be wired in not the cig plug kind...still no problem I installed my vafc I can do this all I need is the directions. Now here is were the problem is....the directions are in Japanese, yep its JDM alright. So if anybody can help me out I need it. I know that it wires into the ecu I just don't know what wires to tap it to. Thanks...
I would get a couple crimps and crimp it to the wires that go to the cig lighter. . . hehe it sounds lame but if there is a similar model with the plug in option the crimps should work the same right???
Or get a plug for your cig lighter and attach the wires to that.

i cant read japanese.. what are the wires colored???
this one is the one that i think is correct..
im guessing the wires are ground, 12volt switched power, parking lights, and tach
they could also be ground, 12volt constant, parking lights, tach

I can't read japanes either thats the problem I am having, (largest Honda info site on the net and nobody can read japanese??). Anyhow, the wires are Red, Orange, White, and Black. By looking at the pics in the directions it looks like one goes to the ECU, one to the coil? maybe?, one is the ground, and one to some other connection that I haven't identified yet (power)? If somebody can read the part of the directions that has the picture with the unit and the four wires coming from it and translate that for me I can figure out the rest (I think). thanks...
Its got 3 wires right? Well, one is +12v, one is ground and one is tach signal. Just tap into the ECU or even the bqack of your cluster to get the tach signal. and im betting the 4th wire is for the dimmer.

ok here is what I got so far...
red=IG
white=engine signal insert, or rpm signal at the ecu
orange
n, 12v+ it says car side small 12v+??
black= ground
What is the IG?? I have the other 3 figured out. I am going to tap the white one into the ecu, then take the positive from the cig lighter for the red, and the black from the cig lighter for the ground...but I need to know what the IG is.

IGN = 12v switch power.
Any circuit that is only on when the key in in the "on" position will work. There is a spare circuit in the under dash fuse box. The radio also has a 12v switch power wire running to it. Try something in that nature...all the shift light needs that line for is to switch it on and off. Bust out the good old DMM and track one down.
Good luck

Well, it is in and works great... I endend up wiring direct to the ECU, figuring this would be the best and most acurate way. I will post pics later today, I can bet that this is one of the cleanest install/mounting that many of you have seen. Now I am wondering how to add a audible buzzer that works in conjuntion with the light, how would I wire that to work with the shift light?
