I bought a set of CTR pistons and went to the local Honda dealer to get new set of rings. The guy never heard of a Civic Type R and thought I had Acura pistons. I told him rest assured they were CTRs. I told him they never sold CTRs here but they did elsewhere in the world. He said check with Acura becuase he didn't have them. I told him they were factory Honda and still the box and 82.5 mm. He had a set of rings for a Civic Si that were OS.25. Are the Si rings the same for the CTRs? What do I need to show him to get rings from Honda besides the box with the part #?? Any help would be appreciated. thanks
What is 82.5mm??? You're not talkin about the bore right... Stock bore for all B series except CRV is 81mm... If you have CTR pistons they will say PCT on them... if you are running .25mm overbore then your bore is really going to have to be 81.25mm.. All DOHC VTEC rings are the same, just make sure you either get them for std or overbore... Latez
Is it possible to run .25mm overbore rings on standard 81mm piston??
no
no
hehehe, the one word king!
hwy SGT whatever happened to that Prelude motor that you were going to put aftermarket pistons in it without re sleeving it. I never saw that thing, i mean im not trying to be an ******* but u swore up and down that you were going to prove the world wrong. You said something like "you dont need to resleeve a prelude motor when installing aftermarket pistons just needs to be honed" <-- i just want to see what the outcome was.
for everone else in here, i want to know what you think
" when putting new pistons in a H22a do you need to sleeve it, or can you just re hone the walls and be done? "

Yes. You can use O/S rings for a standard bore.
But you will have to file down the rings to achieve a proper ring gap. If you were to get aftermarket pistons, you'd have to file down the rings anyhow. It's best to use a real ring gap filer rather than using a bastard file, just FYI.

I have the original boxes the pistons came in I hope. It has 13020-PCT-000 and then a big label on all for boxesthat reads'JDH20.10.13'. How can I tell that the piston is actually std. or os.? I was told they were std. And all I have to do is ask for a set of VTEC piston rings and they should fit no matter if its for civic or integra type r? thanks
Well the pistons should have a .25 stamp on the side of them indicating that they are oversized if they are... If not then you have std. bore pistons... As for the rings you are correct... All DOHC VTEC rings are the same... just get them either in standard or oversized depending on what pistons you have... Sorry I don't know too much about part numbers to tell you what they are right now... Latez

Well on top of the piston is a 25. Does the Honda dealer sell .25OS rings for any other car? thanks for the info. can't wait to get the car to start working on it.
Yea if you go to Honda either order it for a O.S. DOHC VTEC Del Sol or a 99-2000 Si... If you go to Acura then get it for a O.S. 93+ GSR or an ITR.... Latez
