Piston orientation
intake valves have deeper reliefs than the exhaust valve relief. what pistons are you trying to figure out? the stock pistons usually have an IN stamped on the intake side.. make sure you put them on the rod the right way, there should be an oiling hole in the rod so it does matter how you assembke it.

So the rod has to be a certain way too? The oiling hole faces which way?

Oil orifice in the rod faces the intake side, same way as the IN on the piston.

on the piston that points to the front/pulley side of the engine.
