Default piston/deck height for b17 w/ ctr pistons?

I have read lots of ctr piston/b16a posts, but still have this question:

I'm rebuilding a b16a1 w/ a b17 crank I have. I've been using the c-speed calculator alot...but what would the piston to deck height be if I use ctr pistons w/ the b17 crank? I ask because I need to know if my compression ratio is going to be too high using this setup, with 98 gsr cams. The worst case will be during the summer when it gets alittle over 100F.
Any additional insight into this would be helpful. I havn't ordered the pistons yet, so there is some flexability yet. The immediate option is to just use the p30 pistons I have, but I was hoping to go alittle overbore + upgrade for a better lasting rebuild.

Default would this be right?

I looked in my helms and it didn't give the piston to deck height...maybe I missed it. Anyways, so on c-speed they have 0.02" for a b16a. Would you simply add the additional distance from the b17's stroke (4.4mm or 0.17")? Wouldn't that mean the piston pokes out 0.15", more than 1/8", above the deck? That doesn't seem healthy. Someone let me know if this reasoning is correct of if I'm completely misunderstanding. Or point me to where I can find these particular specs.

I don't know the answer to your query, but something you need to know. The answer will depend on what rods you use.

Default yeah...I noticed that

I had thought the b17 and b16 rods were identical, but found out they are not. That wasn't until long after I had thrown them away. Thanks though.

Any idea who I could consult on this? I wish the endyn board was still up.

You might try SGT on this board or Jeff at Import Builders. Sorry, all of my experience is with B18 engines.

If you still have the B17 rods you may be able to use them with a custom piston set with a high mounted wrist pin. You have 4.4mm of extra stroke with that B17 crank over the B16 so if you were to mount a standard height wrist pin piston you would be over the deck by 2.2mm....

it really depends on what the stock piston to deck height was.
for the most part the CTR piston has about .03 more compression height than
other b-series pistons except the itr which is only .02 less than the ctr.
My guess is the piston will sit above the deck .01. You will need to use a b16a head
and stock gasket and your CR should be about 12.5 with a stock length rod.
My calcs were based on a stock piston to deck of .02

b17a crank with b17a rods wont push the piston above the deck.
Remember, a b17a block is really a b16a block

My bad sgT i dunno what i was thinkin hehe, it would do that with the B16 rods... For some reason I was thinkin that B16 rods were shorter than B17... Dumbass me.. Latez

B16A and B17A are essentially the same besides the crank, rod, and pistons (different C/R).

I agree that the B17A and B16A blocks are identical heights.
