pinging/pinking
Hi guys,
Recently I am hearing some pinging coming from my motor. I re-set the ecu, check the plugs and they were burning great(light brown). Then I backed off the timing a little(it was set at 16 degrees spot on) and I am still getting the pinging.
I am hearing it all the time now. On idle with a slight tap of the gas and under load(accelerating away from a stop light).
Now one question. I haven't changed the fuel filter since I've bought the car(aobout 1 year). can that cause the pinging?
Help me out guys ita annoying as hell.

The pinging is detonation, which is caused by running a little bit lean. Running a higher octane fuel will get rid of the pinging, but that only a band-aid for the symptom. It doesn't fix the problem causing it in the first place.
