I finally had some time to split my case back open. I was hoping that you guys could take a look at some of these pics & assure me that my synchro's are infact bad & possibly point out anything else that you might find that is wrong in here.

thanks in advance

1st gear dog teeth are shot (should have sharp edges all the way to the end of the teeth). 2nd dog teeth look sketchy, but may be servicable, 3rd dog teeth look iffy and should be inspected closely, 4th dog teeth look OK. Plan on replacing all the synchros (1-5) while you're in there, it's cheap insurance. Reverse looks like it's missing half of a couple of (4?) teeth (the circled bit...yes, it's bad), but it might be a trick of the camera. Replace it for sure if I'm guessing right. I think the next step is to grab the Helms and start the teardown inspection of the synchros, bearings, and shift forks.

Honestly, I can't really tell anything from those pics. You need closer shots. Actually, you need to pull apart the mainshaft and look at the inside of the synchro sleeves.

What I can tell you is that the reverse gear in the above picture isn't bad. It looks fine. There is a cam-lock inside the transmission that forces you to double-clutch before going into reverse (i.e. you can only go into reverse from neutral). This ensures that the reverse gears will be spinning at exactly the same speed and they will mesh quite easily.

That's why the reverse gear has rather dull straight-cut teeth. Don't sweat that gear, focus on the sleeves instead.

thanks guys. I'm gonna try & pick up the manual this week. I've been super busy with everything at work & then running the powder coating shop in the evening, that i haven't had much time to work on my own stuff. I need to clear some area in one of the rooms in my house to do the tranny tear down because i don't wanna chance loosing something or dirt flyin onto my tranny stuff with all the project that go on in the garage. I know this thing will probably be tore down for quite a while due to the expencive parts that are going to have to go in here.

thanks for the help so far tho. I'll get the manual & go from there.
