Performace high-flow CAT vs. custom strait PIPE?
well lets just keep this simple. For all the enviromentalist out there, I do try my best to keep the earth clean and toxin free but when it comes to performance of my hobby car; the car wins.
Let's say this is the setup:
EG hb
internally stock B18c1 (no FPR or cam tunning)
I,H,E(2.75)
*which would make more peak power?
*whick would sound better?
*which would sound lounder/ more irreatating?
*which one do you have? even if not on the list.

A high flow cat will sound better than a straight pipe.
A straight pipe is going to be incredibly loud and you'll probably have some buzzing.
I have a stock cat because I don't want a huge ticket if someone decides to check the presence of a catalytic converter. Is 1 or 2 hp really going to make a difference?

I'd go with a highflow cat for N/A. Test pipe for FI. BTW last time I saw a poll on the Tech Forum they locked it, and said we weren't allowed to have polls in the Tech Forum.

well i just wanned to know what everyones thoughs were on them. And from what i can tell by just looking both cat-co and powercore cats look top noch in quaility.

Carsound. A 2.5" Carsound cat. flows roughly the same CFM as a 2.25" test-pipe, plus it still provides all of the environmental (and legal) benefits of running cat.
i was wondering... would a CEL pop up if the high flow cats are used for us OBDII'ers.. i got a testpipe lying around, dont know if i want to install it.. maybe want to go towards the high flow route.....

just use a cat. modern cats are good, you wont notice any power decrease over a straight pipe and you wont be polluting.
