p75 rechipped for vtec??
just wondering if anyone knows how a p75 could be rechipped for vtec.
tonight i tried this in my car (as a test) and vtec engaged at 5000 rpm and redline was higher than 8500rpm.
it turns out some kid sent this ecu to a friend of mine to rechip it, as he's looking for a chipped p28, wanted a skunk2 program or something. well the ecu was throwing vtec codes which prompted us to put the ecu in my car.
i have a b16a...stock internals, couldn't really rev it any higher without damage...but i suspect redline is around 9000.

this is what cory thompson and mike yonkey thought also, but the ecu has the p75 bar code and seems like it was from an obd1 ls/gs/rs integra.

If you didnt know, there's actually 2 versions of the OBD1 LS ecu, P75 & PR4. If you ever get a hold of a PR4 ecu with an 02D011F0-1500 motherboard, that one is totally capable of being converted to vtec.
I tried converting a P75 long ago.
I even had a P72 side by side with a P75; moved over the parts needed from the P72 over to the P75. What happens is VTEC kicks on for a quick second, then instantly goes into bitch-*** check engine light mode and jumps out of vtec.
to P75 ecus. lol.[Modified by Katman, 6:41 PM 10/23/2002]

You said VTEC works with this specific P75 you have?
Do me a favor, can you take the ecu cover off and tell me what the motherboard number is you see on it?
Here's a pic to help you locate this number:
hey whats up, i just left the garage like an hour ago and thats where the ecu is. cory might be going back later tonight so i'll have the code for you either tonight or tomorrow.
do you have aol IM by any chance?
