Default P72 and b16??

I got a p72 running my b16 in my 95 cx. Ive been thinking maybe i should get a new ecu maybe p30 cause the p72 sucks cause of the 2 vtecs not really working well with the b16? what would u guys recomend cause i really dont want a chipped p28 cause im a daily driver and hate wasting gas..

Yea I agree the P72 is the worst OE ECU Honda ever made... It doesn't have 2 VTEC's tho... It has it's standard VTEC x-over at 4400rpm and at 5700rpm the ECU gives you a ground which activates the IAB solenoid and opens up the secondary butterflies in the P72 manifold... It doesn't have a CEL or hurt your performance in anyway right now... The VTEC x-over is just too low... I would recommend a P30 as an option... With the IAB's disabled (no vacuum line connected) I think a P30 feels stronger in a B18C1 than the P72... I just gotta put it on the dyno sometime to really see... I know you said you don't wanna run a P28 cuz it hurts gas mileage but that's really not true... I chipped my friend's P28 with a SK2 proggy for his '88 Rex with a stock B18C and a Y1 tranny we were still getting 28-32mpg on the freeway... That's not bad at all, and actually better than the PR3 when his car was still nonOBD... I consider the P28 as an excellent option but it's really up to you... Good Luck

i think the p72 is a great ecu its just that its probably the most rich oem ecu honda makes, so you really need to tune the airfuel on the dyno, after doing this with my vafc i gained 13hp and 9lbs of tq at vtec

You had a VAFC on it, so my guess is you changed your fuel mapping or VTEC x-over which isn't really just stock anymore... Latez

i do plan on getting the vafc, just as soon as i get cams. Anyone know anyone selling a vafc cheap?also should i keep the p72 and tune with the vafc, or should i go with a p30 or chipped p28?

I didn't know that you had planned on an A/F controller, in that case I would just spend your money on the VAFC and keep the P72... It depends on your setup/cams, etc. but for just a little bit more you could go with an S200 system... Just something to think about... Good Luck
