Default P30 acting like a P28?

I could not find it when i searched.. but i have a question about my ECU

I took a p28 map and put it in a p30 ECU and it ran just like it did with a p28

we tried to make a p30 map for the p30 ecu, but it didnt work..

My p30 runs a p28 chip fine..

why is this?

what do you mean the P30 map didn't work?

the only difference between a P28 and a P30 is the knock sensor in the P30.
your P28 map should be able to be used in both ECUs but will simply have the knock sensor disabled in the P30.
the P30 map will have the CEL on for no knock sensor in the P28.

it also depends on if your P30 is JDM or USDM. the JDM version you have to disable the injector test and ELD.

well, i had a stock b16 map without anything disabled and it worked fine with no codes..

but i have the jdm p30, so im not sure..

ill just have to try that p28 chip in the p30.. if it doesnt throw codes, then im fine..

i heard that fuel is different with the p30, which is why i was curious

in the stock maps, yes the fuel is different. But once you jumper J1 they are all a blank slate and run what you tell them to in the new maps.
When you go to the P30, if you want to have the knock sensor just enable the it in the P28 chip. but beware that the JDM ECU will throw a CEL for the ELD and injector test routine. be sure to diable them before throwing the P28 map into the JDM P30.
(I know this because I just did the same switch)

not really. it's not identical to a P28, it's blank. ready for the maps you put in it. like your P28.
