Default Over-heating b16 turbo help!!

I have a boosted b16a2 and it will over heat in heavy traffic or when im stopped. The temp cools right back down as soon as i start moving. This only happens sometimes.

Fan will be running but no coolant is circulating.

I have a new low temp mishimoto thermostat and low temp fan switch.
New Neukin duel core radiator with shroud and slim fan.
Water pump is honda with less than 3k on it.

Any ideas to what the problem is? Thanks

Only things I can think is bad water pump (not likely) or air in the lines. Im 90% sure i dont have a bleeder valve tho.

i would think its your fan. to cool, air needs to be pulled/pushed through the radiator. when your driving the flowing air causes this and when your not moving, the fan does that

if coolant isnt circulating then how is your temp cooling when driving.

how did u come to the conclusion that coolant isnt circulating?

what fan do you have? oem? aftermarket slim fan? is it a puller or pusher? most cheap aftermarket fans dont move enough cfm.

if its only happening at a stop then it has to be something with the fan. only other option could possibly be a waterpump. it spins slower at lower rpm then as you drive the pump spins faster with the higher rpm. not likely though.

Its a slimfan.com 1100cfm fan w/shroud. I feel its not circulating because the fan will be on and the air that is coming out of the fan is very cool but the engine temp is going through the roof. Thanks for all ur help guys.

Here is the radiator/fan/shroud set up.. less than 1k on it.

I have the Slimfan and shroud with a Goautoworks dual core rad. Having no issues whatsoever. Is the thermostat actually working?

waterpump or thermostat then. thermostat cheaper

the odd thing is that it stays cool when driving but not when stopped

make sure you feel both sides of the radiator. a fan spinning backwards will feel like its pushing cool air

OK... the problem is not with circulation. After taking the thermostat, radiator, and all the hoses off and draining the coolant. It has been puking the coolant out of the overflow. The fan was blowing cool air due to it having no coolant in it. I completely filled it with coolant then took it for a 2hr interstate drive then watched it overheat once i stopped then found out the problem.

What would cause the overflow fill enough to pop the cap off and almost empty the radiator out? Could it be radiator cap or coolant water mix?

physically pop the cap off the overflow? is there any oil at the bottom of your overflow tank?

i say rad. cap or headgasket

you may need head studs.

No oil in the bottom of the over flow tank. I have arp head studs. oil and coolant look normal. if it was HG would the coolant and oil mix or not necessarily?

Nope. Oil mixing into the coolant is not always the sign of a bad headgasket. Might be headlift if the ARPs weren't torqued to spec. I think I'm getting headlift because I haven't installed my ARPs and am getting some coolant overflow into the tank but I'm never overheating.

You would have an external oil leak before oil and coolant would mix if your headstuds were not torqued properly.
