Default over heated uhh?

i bought a project car 92 cx and drove it back home last night about a 130 miles. I got about thirty miles and started overheating as soon as i got off the interstate, but the temp ran up so fast and then back down so fast. I thought weird but was very concerned so I stopped and pulled over checked to see if the fan was on and noticed that teh previous owner had i suppose blown the relay so the cooling fan is strait wired to stay on w/ ignition. There spill tank for the radiator was plenty full (granted: not all the time does radiator suck fluid back in from that resevior.) He also said that the radiator cap and thermostat were brand spanking new. So I had to get home so i drove it back going from all the way hot too midway in a matter of minutes continusly the whole way home. I thought that the gauge was fucked but i dunno. I am going to check the oil in a minute to see if i burnt it last night. Hopefully not . ANY SUGGESTIONS?
1. new thermostat
2. Cooling fan on
3. Plenty of coolant
4. Heat was on
5. New cap
time!
Damn that means B18 time

Default Re: over heated uhh? (wreckedagain)

The previous owner of the car, after it overheated on him once, could have melted the wheel on the water pump the first time this happened if it is a non-OEM pump. Everything else seems fine.

Also, check the coolant hoses and lines for too much pressure. I have a feeling that either your cooling system is blocked somwehere (heater core?) or the water pump is NOT circulating enough coolant.

By the way... does ACT make a "Stage 3" clutch??
