Default Orange/copper color spark plugs

Hi, today I pulled my plugs out and realise they have a orange/copper color on them. Very dry, no oil or any residue, just a weird copper color. That was in a B18b engine 1999....

Is there any problems?

thanks

Chances are it's the additives in the gas your using.

Yup likely additives...IIRC MTBE? does that, have you put racing gas in it recently ? Some racing gases will have an additiive which causes this...its nasty

Have you used any octane boosters recently?

Actually, it is not MTBE that does this. MTBE contains no metals and therefore creates no residues. What I would look into is whether you used either a gasoline that contains MMT or an octane booster that does. And alot of octane boosters DO whether they say it or not. I would avoid using ANYTHING that contains MMT. Because even if the container says that the product is catalytic converter or oxygen sensor safe, it is NOT. After all, the oxygen sensor and catalytic converter are also coated with this crap. And a coated catalyst and sensor can't do their jobs. Take it from someone (me) who got a nice surprise during their smog check after use of an MMT containing product that was allegedly 'catalytic converter and oxygen sensor safe'. I was expecting my catalytic converter brick to be either melted or gone. But was I ever surprised to see that it was completely bright orange!

Is it harmful in anyway or reduce performance?

Race gas can make your plugs all kinds of special colors... I've seen red and green but nothing else really... Just as everyone said... It's probably something in the gas... latez
