is there a "Y" that can be purchased or made to be able to switch from open header to full exhaust without dropping the pipe? I saw something someone fabricated but don't remember where.

What's it called? where do I look?

 

There is a company out there that makes a y-pipe with a electronic butterfly valve (think throttle body) that you can control from the cockpit. It uses an electric motor to open the valve on command and have an open dump.

I've heard of a few guys wiring these on V-tec's with a rpm switch that opens the dump when they enter v-tec. Keeps the car quiet at low revs, then all hell breaks loose at the top end.

Camaro guys use them and I saw them advertised on http://www.ls1-tech.com a while ago.
