Default Open Header at the flick of a switch...cool!

Here is the switch controlled open header setup I made:

This Ghetto mod is brought to you by:

1) DC CC header hacked off at the flex pipe
2) A civic/Integra Ball/Spring joint
3) Electric Cutout from http://www.quicktimeperformance.com

I go from vroom to BOOOOOM in about 4 seconds.

I have been thinking about using the Quicktime cut out but why did you not use the normal cut out ? Like the one you can get from Quicktime?
Also how much does the solinoid weigh? I was concerned about the weight of the solinoid do you think it will be a problem?

Didn't think of getting it for some reason, and my DC had a separated flex pipe...so I wanted to hack it off, and I was concerned about clearance...and flanges are chevy ones...I may get it if I don't think I'm getting enough flow...but from what I tested before it seems to flow a ton...

It's not that heavy...it's made out of aluminum..maybe 3-4 pounds?

Okay, think about disconnecting your cat, and entire exhaust system. No more restrictive flow, that's what this does.

how does it proform? i figure it wont be too good since the exhaust gases are lazy and take the easy way out, straight through the exhaust system. but whatever

At idle if you open it lots of gas comes out. I was actually surprised...we'll see when I get the motor back in..

Is that mechanical or do you have an electronic solenoid?? If it's electronic you should wire it up so that it opens up with your VTEC, if you got a VTEC motor... That would scare the hell out of me if you opened up next to me.. hehe.. Nice work tho..

that looks like it would help alot but i think if it was a v instead of a almost 90 degree bend/curve it would flow better.....let us know how it turns out... sounds good.....

what i usually do for customers is use the summit racing one which has a cable lever to pull open and its a "Y" pipe that you put in place after collector/before cat.
Years ago I used one of these with a mitsu solenoid and opened the plate when VTEC kicked in, sounded so badass, people said I had NOS cause VTEC kicked "so hard"

JC Whitney sells these pipe collectors the cheapest I've found.
