Default is it okay to use a fuel line hose in place of a heater hose?

I called around local auto part stores and for the life of me could not find anybody that stocks 5/16" heater hose.

Stopped by Napa and they had a 5/16" fuel line. I asked them if it was okay to run coolant through a fuel line hose, and they said it was fine. I just wanted to make sure because I have heard otherwise.

just make sure its thick enough, since heater lines have to be able to hold a high temperature

Fuel lines will be fine. We use in for coolant all the time at the shop... just make sure you buy fuel injection line and not low pressure fuel lines or vacuum hoses.
