Is it OK to drive untuned cams?

Is it OK to drive untuned cams?
I am going to be getting a set of skunk2 cam stage 1's soon, and after I get them installed I am going to be driving about 45 miles to DSR....Is it going to be a problem?, if i drive slow and shift considerably should it be fine?....
