oil smells like fuel
Well some fuel will get by, so it will smell like fuel. So were the clearances on the rings all in spec? If compression is fine and you know you built it well, you should be fine. Check your pcv system and make sure its working properly. So is it running ok, not too rich? Did you use non synthetic at first? Because the rings may have not seated as well as they should have if you used synthetic. If excess fuel is entering the oil, then synthetic will not break down like conventional oil, so thats good.
My car burns oil due to worn valve guides. I broke it in with conventional. Yes she is running rich, T3 setup in process, so PCV system will be upgraded (breather filter, maybe catch can) and my ECU will be re programmed. I will continue to run synthetic to protect her furthermore. Thanks
