oil pump or normal?
When I start my Integra, it seems to take 2-3 seconds before the oil pumps up and quiets down the top end.
Maybe more so then other engines/vehicles I've had.
I've never had a dohc engine of any kind.
Is that too long? Bad oil pump, or what else could cause this.
The light goes off normally, and otherwise it runs normal after starting.
Thanks!

I found this in a search from a similar question:
This may be the case, but it seem the time to pump up is taking a little longer then it did a couple years ago when I got the car. It seems more noticeable.
also, the reason i need a new oil pump is because i can hear a loud raddling sound in my head when the car is started up and cold. im assuming this is because theres no oil in the head until it warms up. what do you think?
No your way off. That is just because your engine is cold and the clearances are not as tight yet. Just check your valve lash and that should fix some of the tapping. It takes a few seconds for oil to fully circulate no matter what pump you have. Just let it warm up a bit

I noticed rocker arm clicking/ticking went away much earlier than before when I switched from normal/conventional oil (5w-30) to lighter synthetic (0w-30)
make sure you have fresh oil in it and that the oil is the recommended spec (5w-30 IIRC). valve lash should also be checked to ensure it's in spec.
I've also experienced something similar to what holmes mentioned. part of the cat converter was loose, but once it got hot it tightened up.

Yes, I could be wrong, but it sounds to me, like the oil pumping up to the top. Then it gets quiet. After listening some more, it is about 2 seconds.
I may have set my valves a tiny bit looser this time. When I adjusted them, I found some just a little tighter than I thought they should be. I'm nuts about that. One of my motorcycles, I adjusted every morning for 35 days until I got them the way I wanted.
I had remembered my Acura manual stating .007 (intake) and .008 (ex) and that's how I set them, but it actually states .006-.007 and .007-.008. So I"m on the outside of the tolerance. Probably why they're a little louder.
