Default Oil Pump Failure

I heard some funny noises late last week which sounded like the auto tensioner was getting ready to fail again (h22)

The car was running like the tbelt had skipped a tooth or 2. Popped the hood and looked at the belt which was jumping around like it was real loose. Shut it down right away.

Inspected the autotensioner which looked fine to my surprise (no leaks and still had good tension).. I did the H23 conversion anyways as I had the parts.

Bolted everything up and started up the car which runs fine BUT the damn oil light won't go out !!! (It wasn't on before !!!)

When the oil pump gear breaks, does it usually screw up the housing as well ?? I haven't confirmed that the oil pump gear is broken.

Any other ideas ?

UPDATE : The oil pump gear broke
