Oil Pressure Gauge Installation
My friend just gave me his oil pressure gauge. He didn't give me any lines or any other parts, just the gauge only. Do I just need to get a steel braided line that will match up to the fitting on the back of the gauge and then tap into my oil pan?
Mechanical or electrical? If it's mechanical you need to get a tubing kit from Advance Auto parts (formerly Track) or wherever. It will have 1/8 teflon tubing and the necessary fittings. The best place to read sthe pressure is off the oil gallery at the rear pasenger side of the cylinder head (on a B series engine). Use a 1/2" NPT reduction bushing and replace the threaded plug. The pressure line fittings will thread into that.
Dont tap into the oil pan
There is no pressure there.
One word of caution. you need to protect the pressure line from any damage. I wrapped mine in 1/8" rubber vacuum hose that I cut lengthwise with a razor.

Now that I have looked at the back of it, it must be electrical. There is no place for any type of tubing on the back side.......only electrical posts to use a ring terminal on.
if it's electric which is what it sounds like you'll need a sending unit which you will have to attach to the back of the block near the oil filter.
