Default oil pressure gauge

For those of you who put your sender for the gauge in the port on the back of the block where the factory sensor is located, I would like to know if you kept the factory sensor or removed it. If you removed it did you attach the factory wire to the sensor also so the ecu would still read it or just left it off? If you kept it what did you do. Any help would be appreciated.

I am pretty sure that you need to take out the sensor and put in the adapter for the oil pressure guage.

don't make the mistake of just putting the adapter in the block. The block has BSPT threads and the majority of the "adapters" you'll find out there are NPT (as are all/most gauge sending units). Tunertoys.com sells an adapter so that you can run the stock sending unit as well as a second gauge or whatever you need a feed for. It has a male BSPT to attach to the block, a female BSPT for the stock sending unit, and a female NPT for whatever else you need. For $20, it's definitely worth it imho (and no, I don't work for them).

Also, the stock sending unit is for the warning light. It's not used by the ECU.

You will not need the factory oil sender at all that is what the gauge is for plus adding the adapter lengthens the sender way out of the block and could break off in the block from heavy shifting or dropping the clutch very hard, keep it simple.

Get a golden eagle sandwich playe and run a stainless line from one of the ports. Its the best way, IMO.

I pulled the dummy light sensor and replaced it with a copper oil line going to my gauge. Who the hell needs a dummy light, anyway?

The best/cheapest way? Fast-turbo.com firewall distribution block and oil line - it has the correct block fittings, right size and length oil line and a distribution block that allows you to use the oil pressure gauge sender, turbo oil feed, and factory oil sensor.

$25shipped, I have them in both my cars.

So not using the factory sensor won't affect what the ecu does, meaning it won't run in a limp mode or anything like that and hinder performance?

Nope. The wire goes straight to the gauge cluster and it's simply on/off.
