oil pressure
Ok I have a huge problem.... I rebuilt my ls that I had just bought., put brand new gaskets, bearings and seals. After putting it in car, I developed small oil leak. After driving it for a day, that oil leak became a huge oild leak. After trouble shooting I narrowed it down to oil pump seal (crank seal). So I changed it along with oil pan gasket. Immediately after starting car back on, the other side of motor began to leak a lot. There was motor oil shooting from tranny case by flywheel. The only place you can leak from is the crank seal near flywheel. My question is, it wasn't leaking before, after fixing the other side, it immediately gave out on. Me. Could it be to much oil pressure? And what can be done about it?
could have been that all of the pressure shot out of the pump side, and then when you capped the pressure off there the pressure was just too much on the flywheel side?
definately sucks though
definately sucks though
Yea that is what I'm concluding but how do I lower oil pressure? And by lowering it is it gonna fix problem or am I gonna have to replace crank seal anyway?
why do you need to lower it? you might have just gotten a bad seal or installed it wrong. what oil pressure are you running now?
you don't just want to randomly go lowering oil pressure, unless your pump is bad and your bypass is stuck shut

Stop. You probably made a mistake with the oil pan gasket install. There are 2 metal guides in the oil pan gasket on the flywheel side. Often times when replacing an oil pan gasket these guides stay on the block side. Then on with the new oil pan gasket and you now have double stacked guides and a horrible seal on the flywheel side of the block. If you can find your old gasket see if these 2 metal guides are in the old gasket. I'll bet they are missing. Or you could just pull the oil pan and check there. These two guides should be on the two studs that are on the flywheel side of the oil pan. I 've seen this before.Good Luck
