Default Oil pan torque sequence

Could someone explain the proper torque sequence for the oil pan? People say in a X-pattern, care to elaborate? Is it:

13--9-5-1-3-7-11
17--------------15
18--------------16
14-10-6-2-4-8-12

or:

13-9-5-1-3--7-11
17--------------15
16--------------18
12-8-4-2-6-10-14

or am i completely wrong?

the numbers are there for a pattern sequence. You start with number one then you go to two and then three and etc.

yea, thats what i'm asking. I don't know the exact torque sequence. I posted 2 different versions. I'm trying to get this right since my pan has leaked twice already. and it's a PITA to take the DP off...

it seems that the diagram is the same just opposite. it really doesn't matter just as long as the torque is correct

The 2nd pattern is correct.

Are you using HondaBond in the correct spots? Where are you putting it [HondaBond]? What torque value are you using? Is there a particular spot it keeps leaking from?

I was using HondaBond on the 4 spots that helms says. I was torqueing to around 8 ft. lbs. It keeps leaking around the timing belt side. I thought it may be the pan, so i got my stock pan tapped and am gonna try that. This time i'm just gonna use hondabond all around and on both sides of the gasket.

Oh, this isn't a stock pan your dealing with? And now your about to bolt the stocker back on?

When you say timing belt side....possibly the front main seal? I've had it go bad on my D before.

no the pan on there now is stock but very used. It was taped real low, so i had that spot welded up, and another -10AN bung welded up higher. I'm just afraid it may be warped or something b/c i followed all the proper steps and it still leaked.
