Default OIL LIGHT stays on and blinks

Just put a new motor in. I know it has oil in it. Car runs but oil light stays on and then starts blinking? Any ideas?

Before you really start driving around I would definately check a few things... First if you have an extra oil pressure sender swap it in and see if it goes away.. If not then check the oil pressure senders wiring all the way back to the gauge cluster (this will save you sometime if you can find the problem there)... Check the light again, if it's still on then it's most likely something mechanical... Does the oil pan have any BIG dents... Especially ones towards the oil pump side (#1)... If so pull the oil pan and check it out, a lot of times these dent makes it hard for oil to be sucked up into the pump and runs your motor really dry (If so it's easiest just to replace the oil pan) The oil pick up could also be plugged up so clean it out... You rarely ever see oil pumps go BAD but sometimes things happen and it could also be that... When I put my friend Mike's (jdmDXrex) B16 (from Hondamotorsonline) into his '88 Rex a couple years ago we had the same problem... A few days after the motor went it he started getting an oil pressure light (it was the dented oil pan smashing the sump)... We pulled the oil pan off and found a mangled thrust washer (It had destroyed the crank and block) It was too late so I just built him a new motor... Anyways, those are the real problems that I see it being... It may be something else but those are the most common... Good Luck

Im think its the pickup you tell me when we a started the motor oil pump was leaking a little from it.Its a new oil pump. So i took off and fix the leak But the in the process of doing that i bent the oilpickup up a little enought that it was hard time lining up the holes to bolt back down. U think i mess it up so the light would stay on if the oil pickup was damage?

If it's just bent a little I don't really think it would cause that big of a problem but when you think about it, it's something that was messed with and could cause you the problem you have now... I would just pull the pan, double check, and clean everything... Did you put a new oil pump to pick up??? Most of the time you can reuse them even tho I don't... Just check for any big leaks or clogging... Good Luck again...
