Oil leak help
I have a 97 integra gsr with a B18C. I noticed a leak coming from what I thought was the vtec solenoid. I changed the gasket and even took it to a local import speciaist to get the proper torque on the bolts but I am still having a leak. It looks like it's coming from the seal between the block and head, on the passanger side of the car nearest to the radiator. It's a very small leak but it is still annoying. A) what is causing this leak ( I fear its a head gasket issue) and B) what should I do. I am planning a complete engine rebuild but I didn't plan on doing it untill next summer. Any help is greatly appreciated.
head gasket..rebuild now or suck it up and do it later. if your not blowing smoke or overheating or losing coolant than dont worry about it. check the cam seal also
I hadn't considered the cam seal. that might be worth trying before a head gasket job. As of now I'm not blowing any smoke, and it's lonly leaking a few ounces a day if I drive it a lot, no overheating, and no oil in the coolant so far.
A few ounces a day thats 3 quarts a month thats a lot. Leaks on that side of the engine... VTEC solenoid gasket, vtec sppol valve gasket, vtec pressure switch oring, distributor o ring cam cap seal valve cover gasket, head gasket. Did you change all vtec gaskets/ o rings or just the one on the face of the head... the one with the screen in it? I like to change all of them at once. You must treat oil leaks like washing cars start from the top and work your way down.
after reading that last post I checked it again and I way overestemated how must oil I was leaking I mean a shot glass is 2oz so I'm guessing it's more like 1/4 to an 1/8 of an oz a day. and I don't know why but I went to the CMI north vs. south eventant and was able to make 4 passes with no leaks.
