oil dripping out of intake filter!!!!!
Let me start off by saying I have a JDM B16. I recently noticed oil dripping out of my cold air intake filter. I searched this and I read that it could be normal blowby, bad pcv, real bad blowby, or worn out valve seals. Well all the valve seals and guides have been changed about two months ago, and I will check the PCV tomorrow, but im pretty sure its good I replaced that when I put the head back on. So that leaves blowby. I did a compression test and there was no indication of bad rings. I pulled 240 245 245 240 on the cylinders. So what else could it be. Valves seals are good, PCV is most likely good (unless it went out it two months), and compression test gave me good consistant readings. I am really stumped and thats why I am coming to you guys and gals. Can someone please help me!!!! Thanks!
a little help would be nice. I have searched and found lots of post but none that related to my problem with everything being good. Thanks!
soory i cant help you or say anything but jeeesh i cant imagine that oil out dripping out from intake filter
, good luck to you and hope it can be solved and be a-ok back

It's hard to say without seeing the car run but, generally that is a sign off a pretty good amout of blow by. which could be from a long time a high revving. If your pcv system was not working you would probably have seal and gaskets blowing out first. Good luck! MeRob13

Still havent figure it out yet but I did a temporary fix for the mean time. I just disconnected the hose from the valve cover to the intake arm and just put one of those breather filters on their unitl I can figure it out. I am still really stumped. Anyone else with any input? THanks!
Its oil vapors that build up on the inside of the tubing, my dx back when it was stock was coated in oil on the inside of the tube/throttle body, now as to why its running out of your filter just sounds like the tube is at a bad angle where the oil flows to the filter instead of the intake mani. Some oil is normal, but if its a constant drip then you'v got a problem.

notice any blue smoke out of the exhuast??

yes, blue smoke, but only when that tube that goes from the valve cover to the intake arm is connected. When I disconnect it and put the filter breather, oil has no way of becoming part of the combustion. But the problem with the filter breather is that it lets the oil just squirt all over my engine bay.

yup thats what I would've done first... I always check the simple things first... I had a similar situation at my school's shop... Student with a Corolla recently changed the PCV valve but didn't get the exact one. Long story short, the PCV valve was sucking the oil out and directing it to the intake manifold and eventually to the filter. Easy fix

Thanks, Ill check that too, but the way I check it is just take the PCV valve out and shake it, if the valve is free floating and makes noise then its good, but if it doesnt then it is bad.
