Oil Comsumption...PCV Valve?
I did a search and came across this post:

Now here's my problem:
The motor D16Y8 with 170,000km's has been burning quite a bit of oil lately.
- I have checked for leaks and all and there are no puddles or anything.
- I did a compression test a few months ago and they were all around 190.
- I am not losing any coolant, and the coolant is clean and so is the oil.
- I swtiched cars with my friend the other day and drove behind my own car, and I could see white smoke when he was on the throttle hard. No blue, no black, just white smoke. And there was a bad smell.
The car runs strong and idles fine. I do my regular maintenance except the pcv valve has NEVER been changed. Would the pcv valve alone cause oil consumption? And what about the white smoke? I thought white smoke was coolant? I don't see any black or blue smoke? So where did the oil go?

It could. Why don't you replace it and see? They don't cost too much.

i just replaced mine and it only cost about 2 bucks. that was for the valve only, you most likely will have to change the grommet if its been on there for 170k miles

He did a comp test and it came out ok so thats unlikely, start with the pcv, its cheap.
