this will work, but you really ought to have the catch can mounted inline after the PCV valve.

What do you mean? Isn't that what they did?

What I don't understand is how does the fuel filter "catch" the oil?

they mounted it on the vent tube on the valve cover. You will get some blow-by, but not much from there.

LOL!! i thought of that idea!!! but i guess he went public with it first..oh well...
..but he doesnt have it hooked to the PCV hose that gets really oily! the one that you really want to filter is on the back of the block (B-series VTEC)! On B-series VTEC the valve hose sucks in air to the valve cover....

This is wrong.... wrong..... wrong.....

Take the PCV off the valve cover/manifold and put your finger on it. Notice vacuum into the manifold.

mount it between the PCV and the intake manifold

and all i need is a $3 fuel filter and a hose then? What size hose, does anyone know? Also how much will this really affect the cleanliness/efficiency/or performance of my motor?

I want to see one that has oil in it. I have yet to see one w/ oil in the fuel filter. I suppose it would work, but does it catch it all? And do you need to run two? One inline w/ the PCV and the other in the line from the hose that goes to the intake?

Why would you be offended? *shrug*

If you copied+pasted the info from somewhere else, you're not at fault.

Pull the t00b off the pcv valve and note the vacuum. Air is being sucked *into* the manifold.

aight...
yes there IS a suction at the PCV tube that goes from the Block to the Intake Manifold. But, what i was talkin about was the tube thatgoes from the Intake Piping to the Valve Cover. Theres No Point in puting it there on B-Series VTEC motors Because the air flows from the Intake Piping to the Valve cover due to the Suction created from the IM when the Thoattle Body is closed.
IM sucks from Block, Block sucks from Head, Head (valve cover) sucks from Intake Piping! Placing the a filter between the Intake Piping and the Valve Cover is Pointless because filtered (unless you dont have an air filter) air is flowing from the Intake Pipe to the Valve Cover!
In that picture, the Gas Filter was in between the Intake Pipe and the Vlave Cover.

B-series VTEC? with PCV on the block hooked-up? because i thought is was a venting system too but i read that article and it stated otherwise and i just tried to justify what it said.
also, it could get dirty (ur filter on ur old car) when the the throttle is open.. because the when the throttle is open air chooses the path of least resistance (like everything) and instead of sucking air through the PCV system, air just comes in through the TB. With throttle open, PCV is bypassed and building-up bypass gasses inside the crank and head will blow back out the valve cover thus getting your filter dirty. But when the throttle is closed again PCV goes back into action sucking fresh air in the Head and dirty/oily air out the PCV filter (back of block).
It does make sense, because the time you need the PCV system the most is when you start your cold car and your engine is not running efficiently and lots of bypass gasses will contaminate your oil and break it down slowly..so you would want to suck those gasses out....
