oil black in 2 weeks??

Default oil black in 2 weeks??

well myt sister got a 94 del sol. and she changed her oil 2 weeks ago and i check her oil today and its pretty dark already and it looks like she has like dust in it. I KNOW that cant be good but what is causing this? she doesnt drive it that much. I told her to change her oil again but to also take off her oil pan anfd to clean that out. anything else she should do??? thanks for any help

could be burning oil, or wrong oil , its hard to tell..

it doesnt look like metal im pretty sure its not. and shes using 10w-30.

Either its running really rich or the previous owner never changed the oil and there's a bunch of sludge in the engine...

drop a bottle of seafoam in ur oil....Let it circulate for 5 min then dump the oil.... it should come out really dirty...then you should be ok...

Don't get all bent up on the actual color of the oil. Oil is going to darken the second you use it. The only way to determine what's wrong with the oil is to have a used oil analysis (UOA) done.

I'd highly recommend getting a UOA from Blackstone Labs: http://www.blackstone-labs.com/free_test_kit.html

Oil heats up, of course it darkens. Contaminants from blow by (fuel and carbon) also contribute.

Newer engines to a lesser degree though. I've seen brand new looking oil on 2k miles in newer vehicles.
