Default OEM Oil Filter Update

Just wanted to let you guys in on a little inside info.
If you're partial to the oem honda oil filter (p/n 15400-pt7-005, or 15400-p0h-305),
you'd better go to your local dealership and order a case. They're still available, but no longer being produced. As of now, they're superseded by the 15400-plm-a02 (smaller) new civic style.

Hope this is of interest to someone.
Peace.

I thought the new ones were just for the K-series?

If it applies to all, very cool...increased oil pressure.

Yes, the smaller "plm" filters fit just about any honda except the older (like '86 and earlier) cars. These new smaller "plm"s have the same threads and gasket size as the now defunct 'pt7' or 'p0h' filters.

we just started getting in the PT7's here at my work (acura). I did some research on the filters. There isnt really much of a difference. I hope we keep these for a while. They just switched us to these so hopefully they will be around for awhile.

Try using an Insight filter if you want an increase in oil pressure. It's the smallest oil filter I've ever seen. And it's made by Toyo-Roki, the Honda of Japan filter supplier. Just a thought...

That's interesting to hear, since the Hamps are made by them too.

I've always liked the Hamps. A difference in design over the regular filters (on the inside spring and bypass...I have to dig up the pics of them).

I could'nt tell by the pic (maybe I'm blind), but how are the HAMP filters different?
I always thought they were the same as the OEM. Is the bypass valve better?
If they're better maybe I'll finally switch, from OEM to ... ... aftermarket OEM??????????? Maybe not, free is fo MEE!!!

HAMP filters are Honda OEM filters, they are just green instead of blue.

I don't know about that filter-mag, though. It probably works and all, but I'm just gonna get one of those canton-mecca heavy-duty joints. Those things make me wanna crap my pants. Check them out.http://www.cmfilters.com/remote_filt...il_filters.htm

$65 bucks then $13 for filter replacment..! Plus you have to Buy the Adaptor to relocate the Oil filter.!?
..OEM Filter is Sufficient and better then most After Market and only cost $5 bucks per fitler.!!

FilterMag works like the Spoon Sports Magnetic Plug but you put it on the Oil Filter instead of Replacing the Plug.

That little Golden Plug that you see is made by Fram and Replaces the Oil Plug for Easy Oil Changes. All you do to change the oil is Screw that hose on to the Plug then Oil comes out the bottom of the hose into a bottle of bucket..or whatever your using...

i think these would work the same but there a little cheaper...

..4 smaller magnets instead of 6. Spoon only uses 1 small magnet and it works fine..why would i need 6..!

Your a little off. That's a new thing made by FRAM. It replaces your oil drain plug and allows you to screw on a fitting with a hose on it for oil changes. The fitting with the hose acuates a valve in the oil pan bolt and starts draining oil. No wrenches needed. I have on on my car and it is so slick. Just unscrew the cover cap, screw on the hose, and your draining oil. No dropping the bolt in the drain pan, no burining yourself.

Ya, but the filter elements are good for like twice the normal ones. And they also increase the oil capacity of your system (extra lines and filter)
More oil
I agree OEM is good , But this is better
Just my .02

You know, I tried my first K series filter this last oil change. I was getting a mild knicka knicka when I first started my engine cold while it built oil pressure. This condition would go away immediately but it always seemed to concern me a bit.
Swear to GOD. With this fiter, it is gone and I havent heard it since Car builds pressure much quicker. FYI I run a 10-40 full syn amsoil... and have for 5 4K oil changes. I think that oil takes a little more to get moving when cold.

Those CM filters kind of remind me of the trasko filters. http://www.trasko-usa.com . Except the Trasko doesn't require a Remote oil line and is a direct replacement for the OEM filter. The Trasko has such good filtration that you never really need to change your oil just add some when needed. It keeps the oil as clean as when you first put it in. Even though they are pricey, they only require a new element every 10,000 miles after your first initial change after the first 5,000 miles. I would think that having your oil crystal clean all the time would be more beneficial than dirty at 3,000 miles with a regular filter considering none of the cantaminents are making it back into your engine with the Trasko!

..seems too much like a gimmick..
