Octane BOOST............DOES IT WORK??
As the topic says............. Does that stuff really works............. ??? Has anyone tried it in their cars........... Needs some feedback please, does it help or not?
Well, if you're asking "does it raise the effective octane rating of my gasoline", then the answer is yes. If you're asking "will it make my car faster?" then the answer is no.
Just running higher octane fuel doesn't do **** unless you have some reason to need it... for example, you advanced your timing a bit so you need to pour a bottle of that stuff into a tank of 92. Or, another example... you're running a high compression motor and you can't get high enough octane gas at the pump to keep the detonation away.
It's not a magic power adder. Just like pumping 92 into your beater instead of putting 87 in doesn't make it any faster. Might make it more fuel efficient... maybe?

I have come to the conclusion that when i use it and it settles in the gasoline, the car feels much better, but then again, I'm running 11.96c/r with 91 octane on 16-17 timing advance...

Wow, don't you have hardcore detonation? I run 94 octane with my 10.4:1 B16A with 17 degrees timing.

I understand that it will raise the octane by a fraction of a point at the most, and some have actually been shown to decrease it.

not really, the "NOS in a can" the ones you can buy at autozone, they do raise you octane rating slightly
like .2 - .3 points making your regular 92 into 92.3
however, there is a better product for octane boosting http://www.elektro.com/~audi/audi/toluene.html
from the reviews, they were all impressed that it made there car run smoother, and you can pick some up at your local paint shop
