It appears that you live in CA, true? If so, won't you have a prob. w/ the po'-po' (no probs. here in FL)? Get one from testpipe.com They offer t.p.'s w/ a cat-material filled O2 bung for OBDII cars that will not trigger any CELs.

i have a 98 civic obd2 with a test pipe i made

there is a way to get ride of the check engine light...

just dont put the second 02 back in the pipe after you put the straight pipe in....

all the 2nd 02 looks for is cross counts....so if its hanign in the air it wont see this and will not code...

the primary 02 is the only one that controls your engine

i have made 3 test pipes for various cars, all obd2, none of us have had check engine lights....

and we live in California, so yeah you have to be a tad bit careful, but where i live(santa barbara) the cost are too lazy to get on there knees and look under a lowered car...

You could always do the old trick of wrapping your secondary 02 up with foil. Trust me..it works.

or you could to the OBDll workaround or an OBDll/OBDl conversion, which would be better overall

Another thing you can do is check out godspeed, they make a race pipe that o2 bung has three holes drilled in it, and catalytic converter material surrounding it, tricking the o2 sensor... Check out the site for full details

So with the obd1 conversion, there won't be a check engine light if I use a straight pipe?
