Default OBD2 scan tool for computer

Hi i was wondering what kinda of scan tool for OBD2 is everyone using and what would be the best one for a computer. Im looking to see all my sensors live, i would also need it to work on most cars or have the abilities to buy other cds to do so. I have a 97 accord now but would need it to work on my 98 BMW also. any suggestions would be great.

You can get scan tools from $30 at Autozone to over $5k from Snapon. Most of the pro tools have a yearly upgrade fee to keep current. There are some manufacturers that don't supply and info to people other than dealers (Saab was one of them). My suggestion is that if you don't need one for business than get a cheap one for your info and bring it to a shop for anything more complex. It will be much cheaper.
