Default obd2 car to d15b vtec engine wiring?

Im helping a buddy with a swap and im kinda confused on the wiring. He has a 98 civic with a d16y8. We are putting in a d15b vtec. The car is obd2 the engine is obd1 (I believe, it only has one vtec valve ). If I use the wiring harness and ECU from the y8 and just plug it into the d15b would everything be right or do I have to use the y8 dizzy and everything on the b15b? i have never went from obd2 to obd1

use the distributor and injectors and harness for the original car the rest should be fine except the crank senor (i think) whats a vtec valve? are you referring to the vtec solenoid? all vtec hondas only have 1. it would be even better if you swith the manifolds which is what i reccomend use the original intake manifold so basically just do a head block swap.

Yes, I mean solenoid. And I am almost positive the 3-stage vtec one has two of them. I probable will just use the same manifold then. Thanks for the reply.

What about the crank sensor? Do I have to swap oil pumps or is there a way around this?

Ok, I found the trick around the crank sensor. So now my only question is aren’t the obd1 and obd2 dizzy plugs different. These look the exact same.

You can't. It physically wont bolt up.

92 - '95 non vtec D-series and all '96 - '00 D-series distributors share a bolt pattern. '92 - '95 D-series Vtec and Vtec-e distributors use a different bolt pattern. You can swap the guts between the 2 distributors quite easily though.

Found out what’s going on, someone has changed the plug on the distributor and I didn’t notice, that’s what was confusing me. I got it straightened out now. Thanks for the help guys.
